The idea behind parlez-vous is to have your friends say something to you. In French, this is done by saying, “I’m speaking to / to / to”. It gives you a way to refer to someone and is a rather nice way of introducing yourself in a more casual way.

And for many people, it’s pretty clear to them that they’re not talking to their friends online. That’s all true, but there are various ways in which you can address that in your own language.
Google is a search engine, so you would think you could talk to your friends and they would answer you. I have a few translations of my own and I’ve found that if you work really hard to get the translation right, you can usually get a translation that is very close to what you say.
I think it should be possible for users to translate their own question, so I would make the following suggestion: The translation could be a small script that Google can run on your page. The script could check for the language, the user’s language, and even the user’s country. If the script finds that the user is actually speaking in his native language, it would then translate the user’s question. After that, the system can translate the question into English.
